I was reading The Fault in Our Stars and I remembered that time when I was in the ICU and a group of med students came by and were just watching me. I had this diabetes book that the hospital gave me so I just read that and pretended they weren’t there. One of them asked me how I was, and I’m sure I said good, but I was thinking, “Really? I’m in the effing ICU. I just got diagnosed with a disease. How do you think I’m doing?!?!”
and then later when I was in a regular room, a med student came by and examined my feet and told me to not put lotion between my toes, because it can make bacteria or fungus or something grow. because toe fungus was really my biggest concern at that moment.
things I have learned in my 5 and halfish years of having a disease: doctors are well meaning I guess, but they can be pretty stupid sometimes.
